    IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

    Rider Down, But Recovering
    05/14/2012

Betteye "Boop" is on the left wearing pink. Most all of the North Texas and Southeast Oklahoma PGR know Betteye from the numerous Missions that she has attended. This picture is at the welcome home for Sgt. James Fleming. She is a strong woman that you can’t keep down for long. Keep up the hard work Betteye and wishes to you for a quick recovery and rehab. Sparky
05/13/2012 - Betteye Woodall a member of the American Legion Riders at Lake Texoma and an avid Patriot Guard Rider is in the hospital. This morning on the way to a picnic with her family, she stopped by Kroger’s in Sherman and fell in the parking lot and broke her hip. Her daughter said that she will have surgery in the morning and that there is no need to call or go by to see her at this time. She is very heavily sedated at this time. I will update everyone as the information is conveyed to me and when she is able to have visitors I am sure she would love the company and/or calls. At present she is in room 619 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. I am not sure if that is the room she will be in after the surgery and that will be in my update. Please keep Betteye and family in your thoughts and prayers. Sparky Cox

05/14/2012 - Update on Bettye Boop from Teresa Fleming. Just got home from hospital visiting Bettye. Hip replacement surgery at around 3:00 today. She is doing great. TMC nurses and doctors have been awesome. She is in pain but recovering from surgery. Nurse came in and told her she would have to reposition her later and that she would have to get up not just sit up in the morning. Betty asked her if she wanted her to get up now. Nurse told her she likes a patient ready to take on a challenge. Just like Bettye to want to do it now and not wait. She will be at TMC until around Thursday then move to Reba's house for 2 weeks of rehab. She is in Room 619. Please continue to lift her up in your prayers. Miracles happen everyday when we pray. Pray for her family's strength at this time. Her daughter Lisa is a very strong woman just like her mom. Carl Fleming

World War II Patriot To Return Home
Details Of The Hero's Welcome Are Tentative - Watch For The Final Itinerary

    05/13/2012

Corporal Wayne Richard Erickson, born May 24, 1924, was a member of the United States Marine Corps Bomber Squadron VMB-423 during World War II. On the evening of April 22, 1944, Corporal Erickson was a crewmember (Gunner) on a PBJ-1D (B-25 Bomber) that took off in a rainstorm on a night training mission from Luganville Airfield on the Island of Espirtu Santos. The aircraft failed to return from the mission and was reported missing. Efforts to search for the missing aircraft and crew the following day proved unsuccessful. In 2007, a search team that included family members of one of the other crewmen were able to locate and identify the crash site of the missing PBJ covered in jungle on a mountainside on the opposite side of the island from Luganville Airfield. Evidence recovered by this team was provided to JPAC for further investigation. During the summers of 2009, 2010 and 2011, JPAC was able to recover remains and identify all six members of the crew. After 68 year, these brave Marines are now coming home. Corporal Erickson will be buried in DFW National Cemetery on Thursday May 24th, on what would have been his 88th birthday.
